Cocoa Parlour Chocolate
A couple months ago my mom brought me back a couple bars of this chocolate from Hawaii and I fell in love. So the next time she went to Hawaii I asked for her to bring me more, which resulted in a bar of each vegan flavour. HEAVEN. The Hazelnut & Pink Salt and Popped Quinoa were my favourites. If you can find these chocolates – doooo it!! They’re made with fair trade cocoa beans too!!
RuPaul’s Drag Race
Still… I couldn’t not mention this again because I’ve seriously been living for it. When I mentioned it in my last things I’m loving post, I had just watched the 9th season while it was happening. Since then I’ve watched season 8 (1.5 times…), season 6, and I just finished season 5. I’ve also rewatched some of season 6 and 9. Legit obsessed. I’m actually trying to force myself to take a break from watching it for a bit.
Update: my break lasted a whole 2 days before I started season 4 because Sharon Needles though… and finished All Stars 2… and then started season 7. #dontjudgeme
Season 6 is probably my favourite so far because Adore Delano was everything and Bianca Del Rio’s shade was so hilarious, but season 9 was also amazing because Sasha Velour and Shea Coulee.
Oh hoooooney, this YouTube series is the funniest. I honestly can barely handle it. Trixie and Katya together make magic, they’re so weird, but so funny and honestly speak so much truth.
My best friend is learning how to use a tattoo gun and I excitedly volunteered for her to practice on me. This is a Matthew Gray Gubler drawing of a tap dancing ghost with no legs. He’s so cute and I just can’t stop staring at him!! I’m getting another lil guy of Matthew Gray Gubler’s on the other knee soon too.
One of my best friends from Yellowknife was visiting this past week and we’ve always joked about getting matching tattoos, so one day we found a shop that had an opening, got her boyfriend to whip up a drawing of a land whale, and got ourselves some cute lil matching tattoos.
I’ve been a succulent girl for a while now, but after being in NYC and seeing Vanessa’s incredible plant family, it made me yearn for more leafy babies. Now I can’t be stopped! Every time I go to the produce store I end up leaving with a plant. I’ve also been naming them all after drag queens I love so far I have Mama Ru, Adore, and Bianca. I painted up some cheap pots for them too!
Drag Make Up Tutorial Videos
Ok, this is my last thing about drag for this post. I’ve been addicted to drag make up videos, they’re just incredibly fascinating. Is this a weird addiction??
I really admire the art of drag and watching someone transform themselves is amazing. I just turn on them on when I’m bored or play one while I’m doing my makeup. I really don’t care about girls showing me how to do a smokey eye or make my skin look perfect, but watching drag queens paint their face is magic. 11/10 would recommend.
Peaches & Nectarines
Unffff, the BC peaches and nectarines are slayin’ this summer. SO juicy and flavourful, I don’t think I’ve had a single dud this summer. Fruity dreams come true. Watching the stone fruit displays at the grocery store start to get smaller and smaller is so sad.
House In The Sky
I haven’t been reading much lately and probably couldn’t tell you the last book I actually finished, but since picking this book up, I haven’t been able to put it down!
White Hot Truth Audiobook
I’ve talked about Danielle Laporte at least one hundred times on here and my admiration is still so strong. I listened to this audiobook while I was driving up island for a few hours and it was a great way to spend that time. This book is full of so many important truths and is just so incredible. The audiobook is read by Danielle herself, which I love.
This couldn’t be complete without me talking about some podcast episodes I’ve enjoyed recently.
Dirty Hippies Ep #1 – My sweet friend, Christie started a podcast and I’m so excited about it! She has so much to share and you can really sense how passionate she is.
Reply All Ep #102–103 – These last two episodes of this season of Reply All were SO good.
Talking In Circles with Laura Miller is quickly becoming one of my favourites – they’re so honest and touch on so many important topics.
Running Vegan Radio Ep #4 – I’ve spent time with Anna, Duncan, and Liz, so it was really fun to listen to them chat!!
Rich Roll Podcast Ep #304 – This conversation between Rich Roll and Dominick Thompson was incredible. Highly recommend this episode, Dom is an amazing human with such a crazy and incredible story.
I’ve been seriously feelin’ my job lately. It’s such an amazing team of human beans, incredible food, and they’re just doing such an incredible thing for the animals and environment. We’re in the middle of a move into a spot 4x the size + expanding the menu, it’s a lot of work, but it’s so exciting!! Making donuts for them has been dreamy and I love every chance I get to photograph the beautiful creations.
